My company is about to embark on a 40 week development effort at the end of August 2009. We are exploring development methodologies and tooling.
We are heavily invested in Microsoft Visual Studio 2008 and we may potentially be shifting to working with Beta2 of Visual Studio 2010 when this project gets underway.
We've looked at the cognizant FDD template and we've found that is was designed for Visual Studio 2005 and hasn't been updated since.
What experience has Nebulon had taking FDD and utilizing Team System including source code management, builds, work items, and reports?
Hello,
I'm currently at Bournemouth University (UK), doing my final year project for my computing degree. I'm producing a piece of software, but I've chosen to try and follow FDD as the methodology, as the high-level view of it is compelling. I've got a base understanding of it, and "A Practical Guide to FDD" is sat next to me, waiting to be read.
Feature-Driven Development is one of six recognized major agile development methodologies. FDD and Jeff De Luca are a part of the Agile Software Consortium, and FDD was one of the original agile methodologies represented at the signing of the Agile Manifesto. While most recent writing about agile has concerned Scrum and Extreme Programming (XP), there are still a sizable number of people succeeding in agile software development using the FDD method.
Join in this FREE 60-minute interview with Jeff De Luca, the co-creator of the FDD method, as he tells us about the story behind the development of the FDD approach: how it was conceived, its early evolution, first lessons learned and how they were applied to update the approach, and how it was introduced to development teams and organizations.
Topics Covered
do we have some sample FDD contracts here?
InfoQ has a short discussion on pair programming and code inspections. Stuck my 2 cents in but thought maybe other folks in the FDD community might like to as well.
When other agile approaches grow up, they want to be more like FDD
Hi,
I need your opinions/suggestions on using FDD for mainframe/cobol based solutions that use procedural languages.
How will different stages be mapped to FDD processes? Is it suitable for Cobol like languages?
GK
I am in the process of collecting best practice guidelines for planning FDD iterations out when executing a project. I invite you all to share on the following.
How does a FDD methodology have the Project Managers and Architects interacting, during the project planning process?
What does the initial WBS look like?
How many iterations does a project decide to have?
How long is each iteration?
What scope is in the first iteration and then subsequent iterations?
How can the project plan demonstrate to a Client that the team understands the business and the requirements?
Thanks,
